Our campsite is in the middle of nature. Many choose to go on a tour by bike. Others prefer to go hiking.
Why not combine both sports and join the "Bike & Hike" trend.
Ride your bike to the start of the hiking tour and start your next adventure there.
Bike & Hike is the perfect mix for sporty holidaymakers.
As an introduction to the Murtal, we recommend the tour to the Eppenstein castle ruins - they add the wonderful view to the mix.
From the Eppenstein car park, the ascent to the ruins is either via the signposted path via Falmoar or directly by the shorter, also signposted path through the forest. The ruins of Eppenstein Castle are in a state worth seeing, thanks to the commitment and time that the castle association constantly puts into maintenance. The ruins offer an incomparable view over the Mur valley.
From the Salzstiegelhaus on trail 505, the trail goes moderately uphill into the forest. Slowly the forest thins out and you reach the Hahnsattel (1713m). Now follow the mark 520 up the first real ascent. After about 1 ½ hours you reach the Speikkogel via the comfortable mossy alpine pasture ground. In good weather you can see the Seetaler Alps with the Zirbitzkogel from there. Afterwards, you return to the Salzstiegelhaus via the same path.
Along the nature trail you will experience the power of water by crossing the Granitzenbach in its natural environment on wooden bridges and boardwalks. The mountain stream invites you to regenerate and offers adventures and learning opportunities along the way. Whether you want to visit the Schaumühle mill or take a detour to the quaint village of St. Wolfgang. Discover places of power such as the place of silence or the Kraftbankerl while hiking in this beautiful landscape..
We have copied this from the Netherlands: Austria's first cycle node system covers the Mur valley like a spider's web.
In the Murtal, nothing stands in the way of a camping holiday with a bike. Depending on your fitness and daily schedule, you can decide which bike tours you would like to do.
Start your day on the bike well prepared - get maps and other info from us at the reception.
